Reg: Westmont Properties: Adding to my letter: Please check the safety of driving on Stanford Drive. Have a 5'1" person
backing out of my driveway at 575 & wanting to go toward Highland Drive & at the same time have a vehicle (coming
from Highland Drive & speeding past the curve (my blind spot) toward 575. The visibility is worse when the street is solid
with parked cars. I have had some near misses. Please do not add to my probability of my having an accident by
multiplying the number of vehicles speeding down Stanford Drive.
To SLO City Planning Commission: I have lived on Stanford Drive for over 50 years. I have seen it's
population grow from families (with children of all ages), to over-population as it is now. Even
though the law says no more than 5 students per house, the rental next to me usually has 6
students living in it. A couple of Spring quarters, they even allowed a student to sleep in the yard
and use the inside of the house for necessities. Since that house is subletting to extra students,
then it is happening in other houses. EVEN THOUGH THE LAW SAYS NO MORE THAN 5 STUDENTS
PER HOUSE - REALITY SAYS OTHERWISE. Your packet, page 103 "Conclusion would not
substantially increase population in the area" the only reason why it would not is because: the
Stanford Drive population "IS ALREADY SUBSTANTIALLY IMPACTED BECAUSE OF THE LARGE HIGH
NUMBER OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION". "Compatibility with other neighborhoods" - does that
mean that the new houses will be over 50% occupied by large numbers of students?
Traffic: This Fall, When Cal Poly starts having classes on campus again, traffic will increase,
again, on Stanford Drive. Because of our INTRUSIVE TRAFFIC: for years I have had to time my
activities so that it will be safe to back out of my own driveway. When cars are SPEEDING down
the street, the curve in the street prohibits enough visibility to be safe. Students like their cars.
Stanford Drive already has it's own intrusive (unsafe) traffic. Please don't make the burden worse
on the homeowners who have lived here and happily paid our taxes. LVE Policy 2.2.3 states that
"NEIGHBORHOODS SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM INTRUSIVE TRAFFIC". Please share the new
traffic burden with Jeffrey and Westmont.

Walkers from other streets enjoy walking on Stanford Drive sidewalks. Please do not take away
our neighborhood. We are happy to share - with safety. From the Matriarch of
