Subject:Funding for Active Transportation Network

Dear Mayor and City Council,
Congratulations on receiving the Anholm Greenway Grant funding. It is exciting to see that project closer to
construction. There are many great active transportation routes, including new quick builds, in our City, but there is still
a long list of projects needed to make SLO connected with low-stress active transportation alternatives.
For example, San Luis Obispo High School, a Tier 1 Active Transportation project, remains a dangerous place for students
and staff arriving to campus on foot, bike, or scooter. It is imperative that we prioritize and fund Tier 1 Active
Transportation projects to improve safety for walkers and bike riders, especially those that provide access to our
community’s schools.
I am writing to ask you to support the resolution for staff to identify potential Tier 1 Active Transportation projects that
can be funded with the additional unappropriated funds created by the recently received Urban Greening grant.
Sincerely,
Melanie MIlls
