And of course I agree with you. And feel that if the city council does anything is to make Laguna lake the gem that it is.a very unusual diamond in the rough so to say. And I say city council let's get this lake dredged and enhance the beauty of the park in its natural beauty. And I would love to be part of all that. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android Dear Council Members, I'd speak to the Initial Review especially with regards to the Amenities being proposed for Laguna Lake Park as indicated on 6 and 7 of the Report. Not that it matters but CEQA requires environmental review at the earliest feasible time. Looking at the proposed Athletic Fields, Sports Courts, Special Recreation Facilities, and a Swim Center along with a Community Center at Laguna Lake Park potential environmental impacts should be studied as required by CEQA. But I'm guessing no one really cares and unless someone sues nothing will happen. What I am concerned about is the recommendations for uses in Laguna Lake Park driving any planning process in the future for this park. I will note that no residents living along Laguna Lake across from the park have been notified about the uses described on pages 6 and 7 of the staff report. I've got this sense, since I've seen it happen a number times, that staff will begin any neighborhood or community input on Laguna Lake park with the position that Athletic Fields, Sports Courts (lighted or not), Special Recreation Facilities are already going to be part of the plan regardless of what the community desires for this park. The Swim Center and the Community Center will probably be the only discussable items. If the Council really desires that the Community decide what uses they would like to see or not see in Laguna Lake Park then the document needs to reflect that and not make it a foregone conclusion as to what uses are going to be built at the park. Let me mention this. Laguna Lake Park is the only large relatively flat passive recreation open space left in the City which makes is special and unfortunately makes in highly desirable for staff to recommend developing. Once you develop this park with lighted ball fields, lighted courts, swim center, and a community center there will be no largely undeveloped space within this community that is accessible to people of all ages and physical capabilities. Sincerely, Brett Cross San Luis Obispo.
