Thousands of people showed their support for the SLO Police Department and in memory of slain Det. Luca Benedetti this month. Community members paid their respects at memorial sites established at the Police Station, City Hall, and Fire Station #1 last week. Thousands also attended the memorial service held at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 20. 2. Vaccines Now Available for SLO County Residents Age 12-15. San Luis Obispo County residents age 12 and older can now get vaccinated against COVID-19. To schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment, visit MvTurn.ca.gov or www.VaccineFinder.org. 3. aari L-uis uuisw City Council Meetings Get Streamlined Portal. San Luis Obispo residents will soon be able to access City Council agenda packets, meeting videos and more through a new online portal launching ahead of the June 1 City Council meeting. The portal, hosted by eSCRIBE, will increase accessibility, promote sustainability through the reduction of paper waste and advance governmental transparency and accountability. 4. City Plans New Upgrades at Johnson Avenue. The City of San Luis Obispo is planning to upgrade the pedestrian crossing at Johnson Avenue and Sydney Street to improve visibility and comfort for pedestrians crossing Johnson Avenue, particularly for families walking to Sinsheimer Elementary School. 5. New Downtown Pay Stations Are in Use Downtown patrons have been using the new pay stations located throughout the Downtown. 6. Railroad Safety Trail Section Nears Completion. The construction is about halfway complete for the newest Railroad Safety Trail section. The City is awaiting the delivery of the bridge sections, estimated in July, before finishing up the project. Completion of the newest trail section is estimated for September 2021 Det.
