Hello everyone,
I want to give a correction to the previous email and invitation.
After speaking with event leadership and with park regulations not allowing amplified sound,
we have adjusted the flow of the event.
Instead of asking multiple community leaders to come up front and speak and or pray we
will be having Pastor Ben Collins, myself, and a member of Grace lead 3 different corporate
sections of prayer: lament, repentance, and petition.
Our goal is this: to guide people in personal silent prayer with an encouragement to pray
aloud from where they stand as they feel led.
If you feel led to pray in this way, please do so! However, we will not be asking
multiple leaders to come forward to the gazebo stage.
Sorry for the miscommunication and lack of clarity, we would very much appreciate your
presence at this important event.
We are seeking to pull together this event on very short notice, thank you for your
understanding.

I am reaching out to invite you to a Community Prayer Gathering in Mitchell Park
tomorrow, Thursday June 4 from 4-5 pm. This will happen ahead of the peaceful
protest happening at the SLO Courthouse, which some Grace leadership is planning to
attend.
Our goal is to gather before this protest as Christian leaders and lead our
community in lament, repentance, and prayer. We have an opportunity to model these
important practices as we process the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud
Arbery, David McAtee, and countless others throughout our nation's history.
We need to publicly lead forward with grace and humility.
We have spoken to SLO PD and they are in full support of this event and our use of
the park. They will have a few officers present to support us. We would like to spend
time praying for them as well. You may have law enforcement personnel in your church
families like we do. They have told us they are hurting during this time as well.
We want to lift up all vulnerable and hurting people. We need to be that voice.
Will you join us?
If you're able and want to encourage your church family to join, please feel free to share
the attached social media graphics.
Please feel free to forward this invitation to other Christian pastors and leaders in our
community that are not on this email, there are many.
This is not about any single church or pastor. This is about all of us coming together to
lead our community in lament, repentance, and prayer.
I hope to see you there!

Thank you for forwarding these messages to us. It means more than you know to the officers
working the field.
I have been meaning to email you for a couple days now, but have been lax in doing so.
Although most of my co-workers won't admit it, these are emotional times for us. I have
purposefully been skipping all social media to being overwhelmed by it.
I will never forget your speech to us on Sunday at city hall. It was heartfelt and genuine. It
was from a place of love and concern, not "robot chief." I was also able to witness you joining
the peaceful march downtown (at Higuera/Broad) and saw/heard the reaction from the
crowd. That was a solid move.
I look forward to sitting down with you in the future and having a conversation.

War
Forwarded by Gordon Graham. If accurate, the scope of the attacks on our fellow
officers is appalling both in its scope and media insensitivity.
RK
The Left has gone to war against America. Their organizations
have terrorized cities, destroyed countless small businesses, and
inflicted a wartime toll on the police officers on the front line.
The Black Lives Matter/Antifa war is being waged to destroy the
men and women who hold the line.
Police officers across the country have been hit with bricks. Some
were run over. A skull was fractured in Los Angeles, bones were
broken in Boston, and a police officer in Madison got glass in his
eye. In New York City, rioters laughed and taunted an injured
female NYPD officer. Rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, fireworks,
and bullets are part of the arsenal of the racist leftist mobs backed
by the Democrat Party.
The stories reveal the fallout from a national war by radicals and
racists on America.
33 police officers were injured and 47 police vehicles were
damaged in the violent riots in New York City. Two radical
lawyers were arrested for hurling a Molotov cocktail into an police
car after allegedly trying to hand out firebombs to other
protesters. Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that he will be
launching an investigation into the NYPD’s “aggressive” conduct
against the thugs and terrorists of the Left.
The Sergeants Benevolent Association accused Chief Monahan
of, "holding back the NYPD because DeBlasio ordered you."
NYPD officers had trash cans thrown at them and were spit on by
the leftist mob in Union Square. An officer was hit by car in the
Bronx. A State cop and a local officer were hit by a car in Buffalo,
New York.
Or as the media calls such escapades, “peaceful protests” that
somehow, unaccountably, turn violent.
18 officers were injured in Philadelphia after they were hit with
everything from bricks, to rocks, to Molotov cocktails, during the
riots in Pennsylvania. 2 officers had head injuries while 7 suffered
chemical burns to their faces. 1 officer was run over by a car and
is in stable condition at the hospital.
132 Chicago police officers were injured in the leftist riots. Some
of the wounded officers suffered broken bones. One experienced
a heart attack and 2 of the officers needed surgery.
"They get drawn into the crowd without enough officers to support
them, and then they get beaten and pummeled," Superintendent
David Brown said.
The media describes this orgy of leftist brutality as “peaceful
protests that suddenly turned violent”.
23 police officers were injured in the protests in Las Vegas,
Nevada. One Metropolitan Police officer was shot in the back of
the head while struggling with a rioter and is on life support. In
Salt Lake City, Utah, 21 police officers were injured and a police
car was flipped over and set on fire. Some of the injured officers
suffered broken bones. One of the officers was hit in the back of
the head with a baseball bat.
In Boston, 9 officers were injured and had to be taken to the
hospital. 21 police cruisers were damaged, some of which were
set on fire.
In California, 5 LAPD officers were hospitalized with everything
from broken bones to a fractured skull. 2 were hospitalized. 2
officers, one from Santa Ana and one from Anaheim were also
injured. 7 Sacramento police officers and 2 CHP officers were
also injured trying to cope with the violent mob.
2 Federal Protective Service officers were shot in Oakland,
California. One of them, Dave Patrick Underwood, an African-
American officer, whose favorite quote was, "God is good”, was
killed. Angela Underwood Jacobs, his sister, who announced his
death, was a Republican congressional candidate.
6 Oakland police officers were also injured in the riots.
Over 60 Secret Service officers and special agents were
injured and six vehicles were destroyed as federal officers were
punched and kicked, had bottles and rocks thrown at them, and
were spit on by the racist radicals in D.C. 11 D.C. officers also
suffered injuries, including one who was hit by a brick.
Some of the attacks were not just brutal, they were outright
murder attempts.
4 officers were shot in St. Louis County, Missouri. An officer was
hit by an ATV in Atlanta, Georgia on Ted Turner Drive. The 18-
year department veteran suffered serious injuries.
Three Denver, Colorado cops who were taking a suspect into
custody near a protest were hit by a car. One of the officers
suffered major fractures. The attack is being described as
attempted murder.
A police officer in Davenport, Iowa was shot while patrolling an
area near the racist protests.
2 police officers were injured in Cincinnati, Ohio. A bullet struck
one police officer, punched through his shield, but bounced off his
helmet. In Columbus, Ohio, 5 officers were injured by rocks and
bricks.
A Detroit police officer was hit by a rock. 2 officers were injured in
El Paso, Texas, one after being hit by a rock, and the other by a
tear gas canister. 2 officers were injured in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania. One of them had taken a brick to the back of the
head. 9 officers were also injured in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A deputy in Jacksonville, Florida was stabbed in the neck while
others faced a barrage of rocks and bricks. In Tampa, Florida, a
deputy was struck in the head, and another was hit by fireworks.
2 officers were injured in Virginia Beach, North Carolina. 5 officers
were injured in Raleigh, North Carolina, suffering everything from
brain bruises to broken teeth.
Several officers were injured in the Madison riots in Wisconsin.
That included one officer who had shards of glass in his eye after
a thrown rock smashed open a bus window.
12 officers were injured in Erie, Pennsylvania. One officer
suffered a concussion in Delmar, NY, after a brick was thrown at
his head. 8 officers were injured in Lincoln, Nebraska and 4 in
Houston, Texas. One officer was injured by a thrown object in
Aurora, Illinois, and another officer was injured in Hoover,
Alabama. One officer was injured in Knoxville, Tennessee and 5
Sioux City, Iowa, police officers were injured when the crowd
began throwing rocks. 9 officers were injured in Providence,
Rhode Island.
Back in Ferguson, Missouri, the original home of the riots during
the Obama administration, 2 officers were injured. 4 officers were
injured in the riots in Manassas, Virginia. One of them suffered a
“significant head injury” after the leftist rioters hurled things at cars
and police officers. 2 officers were injured in Portland, Oregon.
One was hit in the head by a rock and the other by an incendiary
device.
These are partial and incomplete numbers. If the riots continue,
those numbers will keep on rising. And these are not mere
numbers. They represent husbands and fathers, mothers and
daughters, who will spend time in the hospital, who will relive the
trauma, and who may never be the same again. Even those who
go home with minor injuries may lose some functionality. Head
injuries can especially lead to troubling consequences down the
road. And while we count the cost, the war continues.
These 431 men and women put their bodies on the line to protect
all of us. And they paid the price.
When over 400 law enforcement officers are wounded, that’s not
the aftermath of protests or even riots. That’s a war. And it’s
about time that we started calling the violent leftist mobs burning
and looting their way from one end of the country to the other by
their rightful name. The enemy.
America is in a state of war. That war is financed and organized
by the backers one of the country’s major political parties. The
goal of this violence is, among others, to win the 2020 election.
Their message is clear. Either they’re going to take over the
country or they will burn it down.
In cities across the country, small groups of men and women in
blue or gray stand between them and the apocalyptic terror they
intend to inflict on all Americans, regardless of race, class, or
creed.
This new civil war is not between the blue and the gray, but
between the red and the rest of us.
Let us honor our warriors.

Heads up,
Today there is a planned protest in front of City Hall. Here is the info and task assignments as I know
them:
1. Streets is supporting with traffic control as needed
2. Parks and Facilities will assist with vandalism abatement needs
3. G is coordinating alternate location for transit stops and is working with RTA
4. Gaven is closing 919 Parking Structure
5. Gaven can you also notify Downtown SLO?
6. Streets is closing City Hall Parking Lot
7. Program Managers if you have staff working in 919 Palm please send them home
before noon
8. I am reaching out to the County
What have I missed?
This is a flyer we got for tomorrow supposedly planned by CP Football players. It was
passed along to the CP President.
They were present yesterday and were very aggressive. We actually had enough to arrest
one of them, and I did not have officers move forward with it. If you have any connections
and can provide good counsel or mentoring for something peaceful and provide the ACLU
link for protests so they understand their rights and what to do if LE determines it an
unlawful assembly that would be great.
Thanks for any help

Subject: Today's Protest
Dear City Team,
As many of you are aware, a third protest was held in the City of San Luis
Obispo today with crowds estimated at approximately 600. The excellent and
proactive work of our Police Department, partnering with Cal Poly and
community leaders, including RACE Matters and trusted community leadership,
resulted in a safe and peaceful march throughout the City that ended at
approximately 5:15 p.m. Mutual objectives were shared with the City
reiterating its commitment to peaceful protests and fulfillment of First
Amendment Rights. We have many roles in local government and one of our
primary roles is to support and ensure the constitutional rights of our
community and provide for the health and safety for all.
I am pleased that the participants were able to fulfill their objectives in a way
that allows others to listen and not be overly concerned for their individual
safety or the safety of their property. Volunteers or Peace Ambassadors
filtered through the crowd to support the peaceful protest. I am grateful for the
community for stepping forward in so many ways. We will not heal, nor
advance as a nation or community if we cannot express ourselves in a
constructive and peaceful manner. I know that there are strong and
uncomfortable messages that challenge each and every one of us.
PD provided incident command and was supported by many City departments
along with regional agencies. PD’s execution was incredible and was clear,
compassionate, and reflective of our values. A special shout out to our Street’s
Division who did a phenomenal job with roving road closures in a dynamic and
fluid environment that protected and supported protestors and law enforcement
personnel. There are many others who equally deserve gratitude and you
know who you are.
While I am very pleased with the outcome today and thankful that we are not
experiencing the negative effects of protests taking place in other communities,
our work is not done. An additional protest is planned for tomorrow (Thursday,
June 4th) and we have early indications that another action has been publicized
for Friday, June 5th.
The City is already working with organizers on the June 4th protest to give
every opportunity for a safe and peaceful event. We will assess potential
issues for residents and employees and communicate accordingly should
modifications to your work schedule or location be necessary to ensure safety.
We have just began to assess Friday’s event and more information will be
shared with you as we learn more about it.
I continue to be overwhelmed by the talent, dedication, and commitment to our
community as demonstrated by each and every one of you and the compassion
and team work that is a hallmark of our City. As always, please continue to
send questions or feedback as your insight and thoughts are extremely
beneficial to our organization and community.
Thank you,
DJ

Subject: Questions and concerns RE: recent use of force by SLO police
Dear San Luis Obispo City Leaders:
My name is David Webster and I am a resident of San Luis Obispo. I am emailing you today to voice a need for
change in how policing in slo is carried out. Recent acts by the police force here call into question the training and
practices of the police force. I have several questions concerning recent action taken by the police.
In regards to police chief Cantrell’s timeline, why were protesters arrested between 7:55PM and
8:05PM, before the protest was declared an unlawful assembly at 8:09PM?
Why were arrested citizens not read their Miranda rights?
Why were the arrested citizens held under false pretenses? It was clear that the march was not a riot,
and yet they were arrested and charged with “failing to disperse at the scene of a riot.”
What deescalation policies are currently in place and why did they fail at the peaceful protest on
Monday?
How will you communicate these changes to us and hold yourselves accountable going forward? I
watched the press conference by the police chief and not much of substance was said.
Real action is needed. Real change is needed. As public officials, it is your duty to take action. The world is
watching.
Sincerely,
David Webster
