While the ATC has not taken an official position on parklets specifically, the City's newly -adopted Active Transportation Plan recommends a formal parklet program to "activate more pedestrian spaces and create areas for people to gather and relax in a space that is open and accessible to all." The ATC was heavily involved in the development of this Plan and its recommendations, and members have been supportive of a long-term parklet program that offers a pedestrian -friendly experience. I encourage you to consider the pedestrian benefits of parklets during your upcoming study session on the Open SLO Program. Should your Council support a long- term parklet program, the ATC looks forward to working more with staff on maximizing the benefits for those walking downtown. Thank you, Thomas Arndt Chair, Active Transportation Committee
