They can be street dining (parklets) or expanded sidewalks, outside dining is a unique experience that fits our downtown. 1. We need to encourage residents and visitors to visit our downtown and the parklets add a unique experience I believe we were missing. 2. 1 do not support the lack of parking argument, I visit our downtown frequently and have never not been able to park on the street. It is OK to walk a block, you can't always park in front of your destination. 3. We need to somehow encourage downtown employees to not park in the downtown core, these spaces need to be reserved for visitors to our downtown. 4. Street dinning is common place in Europe it adds a unique experience you don't get by dinning inside four walls. 5. The concept of parklets was discussed and embraced by most during the downtown concept plan discussions. 6. 1 do not believe we need three lanes of vehicle traffic on Marsh and Higuera, it is not necessary, people before cars, another concept debated and embraced during the downtown concept plan discussions. We can do better than three lanes of traffic. 7. 1 would be in favor of maintaining the current Monterey st one way configuration. 8. For every negative argument against parklets, I am going to guess there are three or more positive arguments in support. 9. 1 also believe the city needs to remove the downtown yellow loading zones, loading zones are over rated. Delivery trucks will stop wherever they like, loading zone or not. I have never heard of a missed delivery due to a common carrier, UPS or fedX truck not finding an open yellow loading zone. Use the spaces for parklets or parking spaces, which will add to the parking revenues. We need to help transform our downtown into a complete experience for locals and visitors. Unfortunate as it was Covid has shown us we can work outside the box and implement programs that would never have been considered without a pandemic. San Luis Obispo is a unique place and we have the ability to make it even more special. Thank you for your time and dedication to our community.
