Project Overview
For:
Erica A. Stewart
Vice Mayor, San Luis Obispo

Erica A. Stewart (Client) described three content writing needs: a monthly newsletter for
constituents, a one-time prepared speech about the City of San Luis Obipo's DEI Task Force
for a conference in March, and several prepared talking points for specific topics (including
DEI, public health, etc.).
Goals
1. Identify and develop Erica's personal brand by creating messaging that conveys
personality and warmth while working to promote their priorities in the following
areas: environment, public health, economy, diversity and empowering women to
run for public office.
2. Providing information to the general public in an accessible manner that is easy to
understand and helps readers and citizens navigate complex City resources and
processes.
Deliverables
Piper Writes (Writer) has outlined three deliverables for Client, as described below.
I. Newsletter
Monthly electronic newsletters, each containing 3-5 brief articles on relevant topics
as well as any relevant call -to -action items as deemed necessary by the Client.
Current date range: February, 2021 through January, 2022. Client will provide
detailed information to Writer by a specified date each month, and Writer will
compile and provide all articles no later than two weeks from date of receipt.
Two newsletters (July, 2021 and January 2022) will take a more thorough "year in
review" approach. These may require more than a two week lead-time to complete.
II. Speech
One-time prepared speech to describe the creation and implementation of the City
of San Luis Obispo's groundbreaking DEI Task Force. Will need additional information
re: duration of speech and target audience.
III. Talking Points
One-time prepared bulleted talking points as well as brief "elevator speech" style
remarks on a variety of topics (likely 5-6 topics) for both print and verbal remarks.
Will need additional information on selected topics from Client.
Timeline
Once the proposal is signed and deposit received, a follow-up meeting and/or email
communication will commence to determine pertinent information and appropriate
timeline. However, it is to be noted that Writer will immediately begin developing content
for newsletter, speech and talking points upon receipt of information.
Newsletter content will be delivered monthly by a predetermined date (no more than two
weeks from receipt of information from Client).
