They are allowed all of the parking spaces in front of their businesses. In my particular case allowing businesses to participate would severely impact my ability to park on the street. I already experience issues with the patrons and the employees of these businesses ignoring the parking permit requirement and parking in the permit required areas. They take up spaces that the residents should be using and this is not because they do not already have enough parking; they have empty parking spaces in their parking lot and people still park in the permit area. During businesses hours the entire street parking is often filled due to permitted residents and unpermitted business employees/patrons. Allowing businesses permits would only compound this issue. #2 Allowing permits to be issued to occupants: I see no issue with this. If this makes life easier on the property owners and the parking division then I am all for it. Sounds like a good plan. #3 Increasing the number of permits: I am completely against this idea. The parking districts were created for a reason, to limit the number of cars/people competing for the limited on street parking spaces. Increasing permits by up to 3x the number of avaliable spaces would make the permits essentially pointless. In my particular case I am surrounded by rentals. Each of these rentals has 5 or more occupants and each of these occupants has a car. With the current set up my neighbors and I have found a way to make it work. But prior to the parking district parking it was a extreme challenge. Between the businesses and the residents there was hardly ever street parking and I also had repeated issues with people parking blocking my driveway because of the lack of parking. Now with the current set up parking is manageable. There is always going to be people who ignore the permit requirement and that needs to be factored in. All the parking supposedly avaliable to residents often is not because of people who ignore the rules. I encourage you to keep the current system because it had dramatically improved parking in my area. Thank you, Sara Gamino
