To SLO City Council Parking Permit Proposal Item 6a Tuesday, August 24th
Please give some consideration to tax paying citizens, including the elderly and handicapped. It
is already dangerous on my narrow and crooked street - just trying to get in and our of my
driveway - and seldom is there space in front of my house for a helper to park. Half of Stanford
Drive's houses are filled with 5 and even 6 students. Already, cars & service trucks block part of
my driveway because there is not enough space on this street for parking. If each student gets a
parking permit, how are we going to be able to drive SAFELY in and out of our own driveways? In
the past, our street was checked for illegally parked cars. Paying $20.00 for a permit to park in
front of my own house should be incentive enough for an occasional patrol check. My "helper"
informed me that even when he took a handicapped person downtown, the handicap
parking space had a truck in it. Workers need space, nearby, and if each student is given a
parking permit, there will be even less space for our needed workers, with trucks, to park. Our
home owners are trying to keep up with needed repairs and upkeep, but that is difficult when
workers can not find a place to park.
Thank you. Peggy Fabricius, 575 Stanford Drive, SLO
