Dear Members of the City Council and Mr. Fuchs,
Thank you all for doing the hard work and thank you for the opportunity to add our input. The impact of the proposed
change(s) to parking rules on Murray Avenue are not real clear to us, but we trust you will consider our experience
before implementing change.
Please see our attached comments.
One question; in the letter sent to our home, Item 3 describes issuing three times the number of parking spaces
available on the street. What is the ratio is now?
Sincerely,
Michael & Lori Boudreau

Dear Members of the City Council and Mr. Fuchs,
Thank you for the opportunity to add our input. The impact of the proposed change(s) to
parking rules on Murray Avenue are not real clear to us, but we trust you will consider our
experience before implementing change.
Since 2000, w, between Santa Rosa and Chorro Street. We both
work in San Luis Obispo. We have two children; both live and work in San Luis Obispo.
Today, neighborhood relations have never been better. Before the parking permit
district, neighborhood tensions toward student neighbors were steadily rising.
Our first vote would be to leave it as is, because we know it works well for us and our
long term neighbors. But if you think change will provide a low impact opportunity for
shared use
Before permits, parking in our neighborhood was difficult.
o Family and friends would sometimes park on another block.
o After work (5 pm) street parking was scarce.
o Students consumed much of our street parking.
o Cars would stay parked in one place for days at a time.
Students occupy several homes in our neighborhood.
For at least 21 years, students have occupied the home next door to us, 5 or 6 at a
time. The driveway has room for at least 3 cars, parked in tandem. Sometimes cars
are parked in the area directly in front of the home (lawn). Last week we spoke with
one of the students and she told us they have 6 cars. She was complaining about the
parking permit.
The quality of relations with our student neighbors improved significantly after the
parking permit program and the noise ordinance went into effect. Both worked well!
We are within walking/bike/bus distance of the university; approximately ¾ of a
mile walk to the student center from our home.
One question; in the letter sent to our home, Item 3 describes issuing three times the
number of parking spaces available on the street. What is the ratio is now?
Sincerely,
Michael & Lori Boudreau
