Subject:City Council Meeting - 8/24/2020 - Parking Permit Discussion

Dear Council Members,
I am extremely concerned about City Staff’s recommendation to issue more parking permits in areas that have been
designated for 2 permits per household. This 2 permit policy was made precisely to mitigate parking congestion on our
streets. With student rental properties increasing every year on streets such as Stanford Drive, there is bumper to
bumper parking on both sides of the street when Cal Poly and Cuesta students are back in town. This exists under the
current conditions of the 2 permits per household policy.
The City of SLO says it cares about and wants to maintain the quality of its neighborhoods in our beautiful town. I’d like
to believe this is true, but I am increasingly discouraged as to how decisions are being made and who is benefiting from
them.
I’ve been a homeowner and resident on Stanford Drive for 30 years. Imagine yourselves living on this street or other
streets that would be affected and from this perspective, find it in your hearts to decline this proposal.
Thank you for your kind consideration in this matter.
