City Works to Restore Laguna Lake with Project Starting Next Week. ■ Dredging of Laguna Lake will start next week ■ The City plans to repeat the dredging once every other year to maintain the lake and improve water quality. ■ This maintenance program will also establish regular water quality monitoring. ■ This $715,000 project is funded by local sales tax revenue through Measure G-20 2. Community Asset Survey. ■ Community members have two weeks to take a brief survey identifying local resources and community assets that are important to their wellbeing and safety. ■ The survey will close on August 30, 2021, and is part of the City's Resilient SLO project. ■ For more information, please visit the project website www.lgc.org/resilient-slo/ or contact Teresa McClish at tmcclish@slocity.org. 1 8/24 City Manager's Report 3. Railroad Safety Segments. ■ We are working on final approval from UPRR for installation of the six bridge segments. ■ The goal is to have the project completed by October 20-27, 2021. 4. Paving Projects. ■ The Streets Maintenance division is performing paving operations starting Monday, August 23rd to Thursday, August 27t" from 7:00am to 4:30pm on South Street from Broad to Higuera. Expect minor delays in this area during hours of operations including a few impacted bus stops on South Street. ■ The downtown paving project construction began Monday, August 9tn ■ The tentative completion date for the project is November 19, 2021. ■ The City team has been providing the community weekly status updates and has sent postcards to neighbors within 300' of the project limits highlighting some of the project improvements. 2 8/24 City Manager's Report 5. Boil Water Notice to About 200 Households. ■ About 200 households in San Luis Obispo were issued a boil water notice by the City of San Luis Obispo Utilities Department on Sunday, August 22 after a water main break and loss of system pressure in the early hours of the morning. ■ The notice was issued out of an abundance of safety and precaution. ■ The affected area is in the Johnson neighborhood off of Ella Street. ■ Affected residents can get free bottled water at the County Public Health parking lot at 2191 Johnson Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, while the boil water notice is in effect.
