NEWS RELEASE
WHAT: Update - Aundria Crawford - Missing Person
WHERE: San Luis Obispo
WHEN: Monday, March 15, 1999
Information and Evidence collected since the initial report on the disappearance of Aundria
Crawford suggests that she may be the victim of an abduction. The San Luis Obispo Police
Department is conducting an active criminal investigation that includes this possibility.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is working with the District Attorney's Office, the
Sheriff's Department, and the California Department of Justice. We are also in regular contact
with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Since the investigation began we have been conducting extensive forensic evidence collection in
and around the victim's residence, where she was last seen late Wednesday.
On Saturday and Sunday, investigators continued with evidence collection and interviews with
friends, neighbors, and aquaintances. The victim, who is from the San Joaquin Valley, moved to
San Luis Obispo approximately nine months ago to attend Cuesta College. She had been living at
the Branch Street address for approximately two months. Her family has requested that we not
give out her home address or more personal details at this time.
Due to the early nature of the investigation and the need to complete current interviews, we cannot
be more specific regarding evidence and crime scene issues. When circumstances allow, we will
provide more details and information.
Any further questions should be referred to Captain Bart Topham, Press Information Officer. If
you have any information as to Aundria's whereabouts, please contact the San Luis Obispo Police
Department at (805) 781-7312 or (800) 599-8373. Anonymous information may be referred to the
Crime Stoppers @ (805) 549-STOP.

NEWS RELEASE
WHAT: Newhouse - Crawford Investigation
WHERE: San Luis Obispo
WHEN: April 23, 1999
As we have previously announced, the Newhouse - Crawford Investigation Team has
identified a suspect in the abductions of Rachel Newhouse and Aundria Crawford.
However, the investigation remains on -going and our focus and priority remains that of a
successful conclusion and prosecution in the case. For that reason, we will not be able to
discuss many specifics of the investigation at this time. We will continue to release
information as it becomes available that will not jeopardize the investigation or prosecution.
The suspect, Rex Allen Krebs, remains in custody for a parole violation. He has not, as yet,
been charged in this case and we cannot give you a specific date that charges will be filed.
However, based on our findings and evidence to date, we believe Rex Krebs is responsible
for the deaths of both Rachel Newhouse and Aundria Crawford.
An extensive search of the house and property where Mr. Krebs has been living continues.
Early this afternoon, the remains of a deceased person were recovered. Until an appropriate
forensic examination has been completed, we can not be more specific as to the victim's
identity.
We anticipate that we will be working at the Davis Canyon crime scene for the remainder of
the weekend.
We will be holding our next press briefing at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 1999 at the
City/County Library Community Room (995 Palm Street). We will not be available for
statements or interviews before that briefing.
