Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Mary Howell 600 Cuesta Dr., San Luis Obispo Hello, Mayor Harmon and Members of the City Council, Thank you for your consideration: please take a few moments to read these views. As a homeowner--and resident--of this neighborhood, I ask you not to approve the Tentative Tract Map (Tract 3157) under discussion at today's Council meeting. I wrote to the City Planning Commission for their meeting on July 28th; a copy is included below: thank you for listening to views that I share with many San Luis Obispo City residents regarding this request from the developers. We are interested in appropriate and well-thought out development in San Luis. With all respect, this project colors too far outside the lines. Please do not let momentum and project plan stages deter you from putting a hold on this proposal. The density is overly-ambitious for this site, with environmental issues that include watershed effects, species denigration, and loss of forested sections of a beautiful greenbelt area. The traffic effects of too many lots, dwellings, and vehicles on the neighborhood would be considerable, adding to constriction of flow and possibly dangerous conditions for bicyclists, walkers and children. The streets are not designed to be or suitable as major feeders to a development that would bring many more vehicles into existing residential streets, particularly as and when the pandemic ends. Please make every effort to maintain this neighborhood as a livable part of town, by refusing to accede to the division of these less-than-five acres into twenty-three residential lots. Thank you again for scrutinizing the proposal in its parts and whole effects. Mary Howell ………………… 1 In re: 468/500 WESTMONT AVE (SBDV-0169-2020, EID-0170-2020) REVIEW OF TTM NO. 3157, 23 LOT SUBDIVISION AND ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW To help prot ect your priva cy, …  Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution entitled, "A Resolution of the Planning Commission of the City of San Luis Obispo, California, recommending the City Council adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration of Environmental Review and Tentative Tract Map No. 3157 to create twenty-three (23) residential lots in the Low-Density (R-1) Zone (SBDV-0169-2020, EID-0170-2020)." To the Members of the Planning Commission; Hello. Thank you very much for your attention to this request. "Here, Now" I ask that you not approve this development as configured. As longtime residents of San Luis Obispo we value above measure this beautiful and unique place. Protecting this specialness should not be compromised. Preserving a greenbelt around this community should be a vital priority, and not forgotten and laid by, for any development proposal. We have serious concerns about this proposed project and its effects: environmental degradation with loss of trees, natural features, and habitat, and major impacts from its excessive density. There would be deleterious effects on traffic and streets, as well. We understand there are current and competing pressures to approve petitioners' real estate proposals. Please do not lose sight of what we have here in this community and how easily it can be lost, step by step. Help preserve the value existing here today, for all of us actually here now, and those who will be here in the future. We know you as individuals care for this jewel of a small city. Please withhold your approval on this project at this time. Thank you. Mary Howell 2
