Best regards, Gary and Jeanine Holtz 1954 Chorro Street 1 September 7, 2021 Subject: Comments regarding APPL-0512-2021 Address: 1953 Chorro Street, SLO, owned by Todd Miller To whom it may concern, I am writing to provide input regarding the building in question at 1953 Chorro St reet. I live in the house directly across the street and have owned the property for over 30 years. For many years we have enjoyed looking out our front window and seeing Todd’s charming Victorian home. The shop building located in the southwest corner of the backyard is barely visible from our property. Only the very top of this building can be seen and unless you are looking hard and know precisely where to look this building would not be noticed. The paint color (light brown) also makes it blend in with the other nearby structures, trees and shrubbery. The slope of the lots on the west side of Chorro runs from east to west and drops off significantly at the back of the lots. Therefore, only the top couple of feet on the shop building are visible from the street. My wife and I believe that the presence of this shop building at the back of the property at 1953 Chorro Street does not adversely affect the neighborhood or detract from the overall appearance of this block which borders the Railroad District i n SLO. In my conversations with Todd throughout the years it is apparent that he appreciates the comfortable “old town” ambiance which our block and neighborhood provide. He is clearly aware of how various changes in the neighborhood can affect this feeling in our immediate area. I do not believe that his pursuit of the subject shop building creates any negative impact on the current appearance of our street or neighborhood. I acknowledge that any new construction or modification to the existing bui ldings will to some extent change the neighborhood as a whole, however I believe this perspective should be balanced with the needs of the residents to make their homes and properties both functional and attractive. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully, Gary Holtz 1954 Chorro Street San Luis Obispo
