Dear ATC members,
I’m a former bike advisory committee member, and appreciate the work you all are doing! My husband and I live on
West Steet (near Lincoln) and have two kids age 5 and 7. We bike to school daily. On our short street, there are about
17 young kids, all of whom bike, scooter, or skate on the street, and we often get together outside to play basketball and
whiffle ball.
We would like to request that Lincoln and West streets in pavement area 7 have some speed mitigations added
during the 2022 resealing efforts. We often see speeding, distracted, and negligent drivers down these streets. The
construction of the Anholm Greenway will likely lead to additional drivers trying to bypass construction.
On West street, near the cul‐du‐sac, we request some traffic calming, as people speed from Chorro to Lincoln and vice‐
versa. Many of our kids play in the cul‐de‐sac so although it’s a small street, it has a lot of foot traffic! One idea we’ve
discussed with the neighbors is simple: add some beautiful street art (and we already have a professional artist on our
street who’s willing to paint) on West Street near the cul‐du‐sac. Or, other traffic calming on West at this location.
West Street looking East (cul‐du‐sac to right). Location for some street art! Also, Gus’ first pedal.

Along Lincoln, due to the lack of stop signs many drivers speed around the corner from side streets and fail to properly
check for people walking and biking. This could be mitigated with painted bulbouts, traffic "buttons"/bumps, and "shark
teeth" yield lines on each side street corner (West/Chorro, Mission/Lincoln, Venable/Lincoln, Center/Lincoln, Mountain
View/Lincoln, Lincoln/Chorro).
We also have a lot of cyclists ride down Lincoln and West as there are less stop signs and more room to safely ride than
Chorro. We request that any traffic calming maintain and promote cycling on these side streets.
Thank you,
Kristina and Osvaldo Olmos
