Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear ATC members, I would like to request that Lincoln and West streets in pavement area 7 have some speed mitigations added during the 2022 resealing efforts. Lincoln, West and several side streets have families with young kids along this stretch. Unfortunately, with wide streets and lack of stop signs we experience speeding, distracted, and negligent drivers down these streets on a regular basis as they bypass the stop signs on Chorro Street. The construction of the Anholm Greenway will likely lead to additional drivers trying to bypass construction. There are several simple solutions to mitigate speeding drivers and require drivers to pay more attention to their surroundings. Due to the lack of stop signs many drivers speed around the corner from side streets and fail to properly check for people walking and biking along Lincoln. This could be mitigated with painted bulbouts, traffic "buttons"/bumps, and "shark teeth" yield lines on each side street corner (West/Chorro, Mission/Lincoln, Venable/Lincoln, Center/Lincoln, Mountain View/Lincoln, Lincoln/Chorro). At a minimum it would be beneficial to include speed tables around this route and several of the side streets. Though speed bumps are somewhat effective at reducing speeds, they can still be taken at higher speeds by larger trucks. A more effective speed mitigation solution would be to create a chicane down the street. This could be achieved using planters, or alternating angled parking on one side of the street. Ideally, a street closure along Lincoln would prevent bypass traffic and limit access to neighborhood traffic only. With several side streets, this could be a simple and effective solution that would only require minimal change in route for some residents. Remove parking directly in front of Anholm Park. These parked cars prevent drivers from seeing potential little ones trying to cross the street to get to or leave the park. There should be larger speed tables on both sides of the park to ensure drivers are slowed to <15MPH. Add bollards with signage identifying "children at play" on the street near the park entrance. Many of the families and residents along this corridor would greatly appreciate making these streets more kid and people friendly. We hope that you include some traffic and speed mitigation measures to this area as part of the 2022 resealing efforts. 1 Thank you, Ashley Hildebrand West St San Luis Obispo 2
