Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. To whom it may concern, My name is Ty Chapman and I am a sophomore at San Luis Obispo High School. Along with a bunch of my friends, I am an avid mountain biker and I really enjoyed riding at the Costco jumps. These jumps, located behind Costco and Home Depot on Irish Hills, were recently destroyed by the city. I understand that this was a necessary action because the land was private property and the jumps were encroaching upon the hiking trails, but that does not change the fact of the mountain bike community has been greatly affected by them being destroyed. Many many mountain bikers across slo are sad and angry about the lack of jumps in the community and we would love to see a city-owned bike park built in the next few months. I know there are some plans to build a pump track, but that is different than true bike jumps, which many bikers would like to see here in SLO. San Luis Obispo was rated the number one bike city in America, and it is important that we hold to that standard by listening to the mountain by community and building a bike park for all of us riders. Bike park build athleticism in kids, grow bonds in the community through the love of the sport, and attract bikers to visit San Luis Obispo. I really appreciate your time in reading this email and I really hope you guys are able to build a bike park, From Ty Here’s a company that makes wooden ramps for jumps. They have built many world-class bike parks around America and would be a great resource to talk to if the city chooses to do this project. https://www.progressivebikeramps.com/bike-parks/ 1
