In favor of Laguna lake dog park improvements. To include a separation of the large dog park
and small dog park areas. I have frequent the dog park having two small dogs and remain on
the outskirts of the park border to allow the dogs to exercise and play ball. With experience I
know that I cannot safely intermingle within the main area of the dog park with the larger
dogs because dogs are dogs and act instinctual and sometimes obey commands.
Meaning I have had experience with the large dogs intensely approaching my small dogs and a
fearful reaction my small dogs invoked a stronger and an aggressive action from the larger dog
as acting based upon instant. In that situation having had that situation and picking up my
small dog the larger dog than jumped up on me in an attempt to get at the small dog within
my arms. (I also have seen this situation with other persons dogs).
Another time in a similar situation I left the small dog on the ground and restrained the larger
dog while its owner is in route. Neither of these responses of picking up the small dog or
restraining the large dog are safe. I have been scratched and also bitten as I am part of the
action. Restraining the larger dog presents an added problem of another persons property in
addition to the larger dog does not have a relationship with me and my interpret my actions
by reacting to me as a threat.
Therefore, because my dogs need exercise and socialization I have to take them to the park
but keep them on the outskirts of the park for the sake of safety.
I would be not only an esthetic improvement for the part to have separation fences it is an
improvement for the sake of safety and the added benefit is that the dogs will be able to
socialize in a more comfortable environment with dogs of similar size.
Thank you for your allowance of input.
