New Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon CrossingThe new pedestrian hybrid beacon crossing at the intersection ofBroad Street and Woodbridge Street is activeIntended to improve safety and connectivity for people walking andbicycling to nearby schools, parks, shopping, and other servicesBeacons reduce overall collision rates by 29% and pedestriancollision rates by 69% per the Federal Highway AdministrationThis is the third crossing of this type installed in the cityRibbon cutting ceremony at the crossing’s intersection onWednesday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. to coincide with Walk to School Day.6
