Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor Stewart and Members of the Council, At a minimum, the Council should wait until the results of the HF&H analysis of the impacts of the county's withdrawal from the Integrated Waste Management Agency (IWMA) before making a decision to adopt a resolution to remain a member of the Agency. To adopt this resolution now seems fiscally imprudent - even if we could change our mind later on. Other reasons to wait before making a decision: 1. There has been corruption within the IWMA, including embezzlement. 2. Hazardous waste disposal is within the purview of the Fire Department, firemen are trained in these methods. 3. Since Coldwater Canyon is in the county, one would think that the county would pick up the responsibility for monitoring and sampling activities, record keeping and reporting, and capacity planning. If so the charge may be less than that assessed by the IWMA. We should wait to find out how these functions will be handled. 4. We already have organic waste collection. Please consider the above and do not approve this resolution tonight. Sincerely, Sandra Rowley Resident, SLO 1
