Mayor and council members,
We oppose opening up our natural reserve to night hiking/biking. We agree with Alan Cooper, Richard Schmidt and the
Chumash that noise and lights from people will be detrimental to the lives of the fauna that live in these spaces.
We have many times observed lights on Cerro San Luis and Bishops Peak later than 10pm. Lights have also been seen at
4am on Bishops Peak! What has happened to monitoring this activity? We have also been disturbed late at night by
sirens and helicopters rescuing some hiker or biker. How much that cost?
This natural reserve is not a city park. The voters never intended it to be.
