One of the Commission members mention that it would be interesting to hear how neighbors respond to the project design. While the modifications introduced after the October meeting are somewhat helpful, the stark white color of the surface is not in keeping with anything in the neighborhood. Would it be that much more expensive to use the colors that predominate in the area? I understand that the balconies are added predominantly to break up the monolithic appearance os the structure. As indicated during the meeting, noise on Broad Street makes their use impossible. I also wonder if residents on the Broad Street side will ever be able to open their windows without admitting noise and debris. Why not make the commercial spaces that face Broad Street 2 story and put balconies on the Lawrence Dr side? Cutting back the building at the Broad and Lawrence intersection makes sense, but the metal support of the canopy is ungracious in appearance. Is there no other solution? Getting out of Lawrence on to Broad Street is already quite tricky. The thought of project construction/completion before installation of the proposed traffic light at the corner will prove disastrous both from a safety perspective and from the traffic that will resort to traveling thru the adjacent residential areas. Wondering if there are elevators on site for those with limited mobility? Thank you for your attention, Carol Stern 1
