Dear council,
Since being fiscally responsible and denying tax paying residents an option to hold a special mayoral election, I sincerely
hope you continue to be fiscally responsible and forego any additional compensation benefits to city employees,
including council members, at the expense of taxpayers. (Didn’t you all push a significant pay increase through prior to
covid, conveniently?)
Inflation and the pandemic have stretched everyone thin; government workers, who’ve worked remotely for awhile
with very limited and reduced job functions, should not, at this time, receive any compensation increase. In fact, I
encourage the council to instead have staff complete a full audit on all city spending to see where waste can be cut.
In closing, I also encourage the city to “slo together” and find a way to “safely“ host in person council meetings. The
county is doing it, the schools are doing it - there are no more excuses and as a kind reminder, you work for We the
People.
