SPECIALIZED COATINGS FOR COLORIZED PREFERENTIAL LANES Bike Lanes Bus Lanes Roundabouts BENEFITS: • Increases awareness of shared road- way use among motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users • Enhances visibility of preferential lanes • Provides clear delineation and traffic calming treatment • Promotes balanced multimodal trans- portation network PERFORMANCE-BASED FEATURES: Durability: The epoxy -modified acrylic formulation with crosslinking proper- ties provides increased durability over typical waterborne coatings, especially when using the recommended 4 -layer application method. Flexibility:The formulation allows the coating to expand and contract at the same rate as the asphalt pavement to avoid cracking. Friction: Slip resistant aggregates pro- vide greater traction for safe pedestrian and cyclist traffic. Due to the low vis- cosity of the coating, it has very good static and dynamic friction properties. Color Stability: Advanced acrylic polymer technology and superior pigments provide long-lasting color retention, especially against UV rays. 4 ENNIS-FLINT A Traffic Safety Solutions Company COATINGS FOR COLORIZED LANES Ride -A -Way" is ideal for corridor treat- ments along the length of a preferential lane such as bike lanes with little to no vehicle traffic or bus lanes limited to dedicated public transit use only. Chemical Resistance: Impervious to gas, oil, engine and de-icing agents that often come into contact with road surfaces. Environmentally Friendly: Water- based, acrylic formulation contains no harsh solvents and can be recy- cled along with asphalt. Meets EPA requirements for VOCs. Standard Colors: Typically used for bike lanes, bus lanes, or other pref- erential lane delineation. E - LANE GREEN Bike Lanes Bus Lanes Parklets Bus Lanes APPLICATION OVERVIEW Refer to the complete set of Ride-A-Way'"Application Instructions for detailed instructions forproperapplication ofcoatings, available at www.ennisflint.com. Substrate and ambient air temperature must be 50°F and rising. Surface Prep: The surface should be completely dry, clean and free of debris, water, and contaminants. Masking: Use duct tape with plastic or paper to protect areas from overspray as needed. Mixing: Combine Parts A, B and colorant according to the application ^h instructions. Mix thoroughly before applying the coating with the sprayer. IL _ Spraying: Apply coating using a circular movement according to the application instructions. For optimal performance, Ride -A -Way'"' coatings are applied build- ing up to four layers allowing each layer to dry to the touch in between. Brooming: Evenly distribute with brooming motions according to application instructions to ensure com- plete coverage into the surface. Approximate coverage rates: Actual coverage may be affected by the texture of the pavement substrate, but each mixed unit of Ride - A -Way'" coatings will cover approximately 175 sq. ft. (16.3 ml) using the recommended 4 -layer system. While building the coating in layers, there will be less coverage with the first layer and greater coverage with subsequent layers. May be used to stripe roadways, airports and parking lots with or without pressure applied glass beads. It offers all of the benefits of a high VOC chlorinated rubber solvent based paint, and quickly dries to a no track condition. Product Advantages: • Performs equally well on both asphalt and concrete • Paint demonstrates excellent bead retention • Keeps traffic control to a minimum when striping • Can be used for symbols, legends and lane marking Packaging: This paint is available in 5 gallon pails, 55 gallon drums and 275 gallon totes. Other packaging available on request. Storage: Shelf life of the unopened product is one year minimum from date of manufacture with proper storage and minimal agitation. Proper storage includes inside or covered, above 35° F (3° C), and out of direct sunlight. Outside storage for short intervals is acceptable. Conditions for Application: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil, grease, antifreeze, loose sand, aggregate and chipping/peeling existing striping. Any curing compounds used on new concrete must be mechanically abraded off prior to striping. When striping on freshly sealed surfaces use caution as some sealers can affect the curing and adhesion of traffic paint. When in doubt, always test adhesion. For complete drying and minimum dirt retention when striping parking lots, the lots should be closed to traffic for two hours minimum after painting. New asphalt and concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 14 days to maximize adhesion and durability. Coverage: 1 gallon yields 320 feet of 4" stripe @ 15 mils; 400 feet of 4" stripe @ 12 mils. 14 Emms-FLINT A Traffic Safety Solutions Ccmpany- Physical Characteristics: % Total weight solids: 70% minimum % Pigment solids: 54% minimum % Non -Volatile Vehicle 35% minimum %Viscosity in Krebs Units: 80-90 Weight per gallon: 11.9 lbs/gal min Contrast ratio 15 wet mils: 0.96 minimum Reflectance/white: 80 minimum Reflectance/yellow: 50 minimum Dry Time: Without drop on glass beads, this paint dries to a lab ASTM D71 1 no pickup in less than 20 minutes @ 15 mils when ambient and surface temperature are 77° F at 50±5% humidity.
