Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Having read Richard Schmidt’s latest email to the City Council, I totally agree with him on the deleterious effects this project will have on the livability and safety of our neighborhood. The double like lanes on one side of the street is proposed along Ramona and Chorro Street will have cyclists moving in the outside bike lane just the width of a white painted line away from oncoming traffic. With the number of curb cuts and driveways on that stretch of Chorro Street between Mission and Lincoln streets will truly be in an accident waiting to happen. In addition, when the Council originally considered the Anholm Bikeway, SB 9 and SB 10 and their effects on single- family neighborhoods could never have been imagined, let alone considered. With urban lot splits allowing 4 to 6 units where one home now stands-- and with the state's prohibitions to require any off-street parking to serve this density of development within 1/2 mile of a transit stop (like those on Ramona and Foothill) -- the elimination of over 70 on-street parking spaces on our residential streets for the Anholm Bikeway will be disastrous for our neighborhood. SB 9 and SB 10 are game changers in the planning of a livable city and the City Council should pause and reconsider this project in light of these new laws. Sincerely, T.
