Re: Public hearing on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 6:00 p.m To: Members of the City Council: The traffic fromTank Farm heading to and from U.S. Highway 101 is ever increasing with few road improvements along that corridor and those roadways. Nothing is being done to help reduce the noise, congestion, and pollution associated with the many pending and approved projects/developments at the South end of the City of San Luis Obispo. Higuera between Tank Farm Road and LOVR heading south is in very poor condition with large cracks and potholes. Many trucks use this roadway and even walking along the broken sidewalk is dangerous as trip hazards abound and due to the high speeds that the traffic travels through the area. A bicyclist was recently killed at the corner of Higuera and Suburban by a truck driver. There is no safe passage for pedestrians or bicyclists along this section of road and it is only getting worse as more projects are approved. As Avila Ranch completes its phases of homes, more and more traffic will be funneling through this congested, noisy section of road. The shopping center with Trader Joe's and Food 4 Less will be a destination for many of the planned projects in the area, only increasing traffic pressures. Please do not ruin our neighborhood by approving more construction without proper infrastructure to support it. How many more cars are going to be allowed to use this section (Higuera to LOVR) of road? How much traffic is currently traveling through this area? Why not change the zoning for 600 Tank Farm Road to open space and plant some trees instead of allowing developers to continue to destroy what was a nice town to live in. Respectfully, Lisa S.
