Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Hello, My name is Chad Worth, a recently returned to SLO resident, after 10 years away. I live in the Madonna neighborhood. I've worked in energy for 15 years in many companies and in many states. In short, I support the Staff's recommendation. Electrification makes a lot of sense for a lot of reasons, but I'll focus on just one here: This is not all that wild of a concept. In fact, 25% of all residences in America are all electric. CA is the outlier state which has one of the highest gas-connected rates in the country. Historically, a gas connection has been a relative luxury, for the mostly wealthier urban and suburban communities. Much of rural America already lives all-electrically in climates both much colder and warmer than SLO. Before moving back to SLO, I electrified my previous home in Boise, ID. Our heat pump water heater and cold-climate heat pump worked great and we stayed comfortable and efficient all year long. There's no need to build any more gas infrastructure for a "luxury" that's no longer needed. We don't let homes be built with fuel-oil heaters anymore, and now we don't need natural gas heated homes anymore either. We can and should go all-in on all-electric. Best, Chad 1
