Mayor Stewart, Council members Christianson, Marx, Pease, and Shoresman,
First of all thank you for your willingness to serve our community. It is no easy task to be a publicly elected official these
days and your service to our community is greatly valued and appreciated!
I am writing today to ask the council to approve SLO REP’s grant request for a challenge grant.
One of the things we have seen during the pandemic and subsequent lockdown is the need to encourage all forms of the
arts and public gathering for creative purposes. The SLO REP Theatre has grown tremendously over time and offers
programming that is excellent for kids and families, as well as multicultural programming. There are many other
benefits, but as an educator these are the ones that stand out to me.
I have thoroughly enjoyed SLO REP’s shows over the years and a new theatre as an anchor for downtown would be
ideal.
I encourage the Council to approve SLO REP’s Challenge Grant and thank you for your consideration.
