Honorable Council Members,
The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works supports the City of San Luis Obispo's
project to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety at the Santa Rosa and Monterey intersection.
As public works and transportation professionals, we recognize the long-standing need for
improvements here. In fact, many of our staff have reported close calis at this location.
This project will be a welcomed improvement for staff who regularly cross Santa Rosa to access
restaurants, businesses, and Countyfacilities on upper Monterey. As additional commercial areas
are developed in the Uptown area, we expect pedestrian use of Santa Rosa and Monterey
to increase in the future.
