Good Morning-
As you go over the mid year budget review this evening could you consider this?
The North Broad neighborhood has been waiting for a Park for over 3 decades. It was/is considered an “unmet need”.
Past city councils have put money aside for this park and then spent the money elsewhere.
When a park was finally approved the site that was designated is next to Highway 101 on a busy on/off ramp. Not a
good spot when you consider air quality and the dangerous on/off ramp. For this we waited 30+ years? Would you want
your kids playing there?
Islay Park just got a total facelift and that park isn’t even that old. Sinshimer Park is like Disneyland. Throop Park has lots
of people of all ages enjoying the views and open space. Meadow Park is huge and French Park has every amenity
imaginable. I realize I didn’t name them all, but how lucky are we to have so many parks around town?
That being said, if there are any funds available could they be aimed in the direction of a North Broad Street Park? We
could and should do better for this neighborhood. And if I am mentioning needs, how about some street lights and
lighting under the 101 on Chorro? A major artery to town.
Thank you for your consideration,
Connie Bruton
