Overall, I support staff’s recommendations to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians as part of the 2022 Paving Plan. I offer the following suggestions for consideration: -Regarding traffic circles at Cerro Romauldo at N. Tassajara and Patricia; and Ramona at La Entrada: If stop signs are included, please consider not posting them on Cerro Romauldo or Ramona so people on bicycles have the right of way for the entire length of the corridor, similar to the Bill Roalman Morro Street Bike Boulevard. Both Cerro Romauldo and Ramona are fairly steep and bicyclists are already moving slowly. Stopping poses a challenge for bicyclists trying to start after stopping. Also, consider a traffic circle on Cerro Romauldo at Cuesta to extend the greenway. -On Marsh Street, bicyclists in the protected bike lane will be forced to stop for buses between Nipomo and Broad and Chorro and Morro. There are two busses that stop at the bus stop on Marsh between Nipomo and Broad, which means the protected bike lane will be potentially blocked twice an hour. This is the bus schedule: -1B once per hour, approximate time, :45 to :50 each hour (runs 6:45 - 5:45 weekdays). -2A once per hour, approximate time, :55 to :00 each hour (run 6:15 - 10:00 p.m. Academic year, 8:00 summer), starts at 8:15 on weekends. See Attachment B, Pages 30 and 32. -On Page 14, the diagram in the lower right corner designates Jeffrey on both streets. The east-west street should be Foothill Boulevard. -Regarding left turn bike boxes: It appears that the boxes are in the wrong location on Marsh at Garden and Marsh at Chorro. See Page 31.
