However, after further discussion with my colleagues it was decided that it would be best to have the business license and tax certificate be consistent with all other businesses including cannabis businesses)in the City of San Luis Obispo. In order to be consistent the certificate will be effective when paid and expire on June 30th.The reasoning is that the business license certificate can be looked at as a receipt that verifies that a company is registered with the City to pay taxes. It does not authorize or permit a business to actually conduct business. Therefore,it is not integral to align this certificate with the operation permit. The effective date of July 7th,2020 on your business license certificate will not affect the timeline of the operator permit. That permit will expire 12 months after opening date. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.I apologize for any confusion that I may have caused. You may pay whenever you like, but we have to know which dates to put on the certificate.Due to the cost of this certificate,I would be willing to work with you on changing the dates if needed. For example,I can issue a license on July 9th with an effective and expiration date on 8/1.You would be able to use this certificate to open up the bank account. Let’s then say that the store does not end up opening until August 21st.What would happen is that I would reprint the license to show an effective and expiration date of August 15th the effective date must be either the beginning or middle of a month). There is an 11.86 fee for reprinting. The only problem that I see happening with this is if you need to distribute the license to multiple agencies, and then have to resend it again with the updated dates. Please let me know if this makes sense and if you would like me to input 8/1 as the effective and expiration dates Thank you, Jacob From:keith@sweeneyplumbing.com keith@sweeneyplumbing.com> Sent:Monday,July 6,2020 1:03 PM To:Nunez,Jacob jnunez@slocity.org>;Megans Organic Market megansorganicmarket@gmail.com> Subject:RE:Cannabis Business License and Tax Certificate Hi Jacob We are planning on opening August 1st but it will be a tight deadline is it possible to pay and be ready to give you notice once we are confirmed to open so you can issue the permit? When the certificate is issued it will have the Effective Date and the Expiration date. If August 1st is what we select, it will have an expiration of 8/1/2021. 2 You may pay whenever you like, but we have to know which dates to put on the certificate. Due to the cost of this certificate, I would be willing to work with you on changing the dates if needed. For example, I can issue a license on July 9th with an effective and expiration date on 8/1. You would be able to use this certificate to open up the bank account. Let’s then say that the store does not end up opening until August 21st. What would happen is that I would reprint the license to show an effective and expiration date of August 15th (the effective date must be either the beginning or middle of a month). There is an $11.86 fee for reprinting.
