Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ I live at 1640 El Cerrito Court, San Luis Obispo and am very grateful for proposed improvements to the Sydney and Johnson intersection, which directly impact my neighborhood. As an active senior citizen, I am committed to walking and biking instead of relying on a car. Currently I avoid the crossing at Sydney (even though it is often the most direct route to where I’m going) because I’ve had too many close calls with cars on Johnson that don’t stop even when I’m in the crosswalk. Quite often when a car in one lane stops, a car in the other lane will keep going. The proposal to narrow Johnson to one lane will really help that problem. The Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon proposed for Phase 1 will be better than what we have now but I would like to see Pedestrian Activated Beacons or a crosswalk similar to the one at Woodbridge and Broad. While our pedestrian volume doesn’t currently warrant those upgrades, that seems to be a function of many of us avoiding the crosswalk. We are excited about having a safer way to cross this intersection and hope the improvements progress as quickly as possible. Thank you, Theresa Monday 1640 El Cerrito Court San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 1
