Reference Architectural Review Commission Hearing scheduled for 18 April 2022, Item number 6.a 664 UPHAM STREET
(ARCH-0754-2021)
As the owner of the property at 654 Church Street, I am particularly interested in the impact of this project, both during
and after construction, on Church Street.
1. From reviewing the plans posted on your website, it appears that this project does not provide any new
structures on the Church Street portion of the property, identified as “Lot 7” in the Topographic Map, page
V1.0. Do I understand correctly that this project only provides new structures on Lot 9 and Lot 10 shown on the
Topographic Map?
2. What about during the construction phase? Will Lot 7 be used to access the property from Church Street? That
part of Church Street is very quiet and would be greatly disturbed by a lot of construction vehicles/traffic
3. I would be extremely disappointed to see future non-residential development on either Lot 7 or Lot 8. I trust
that your approval of a commercial building on Lots 9 & 10 would not set precedence to allow future
commercial development of Lots 7 and/or 8.
4. Similarly for 3-story buildings. I trust that your approval of a 3-syory building on Lots 9 & 10 would not set
precedence to allow future 3-story building on Lots 7 and/or 8. This part of Church street is old and “quaint”,
and new 3-story buildings would detract greatly from that character.
I look forward to receiving your response to the questions and concerns stated above.
Thank you,
Greg Vaughan
