24/19 City Manager Report 2. Emergency Management Institute•Over 30 City employees attending along with more than 30 community partners•Training was paid for by a FEMA grant•Training focused on running an Emergency Operations Center, FEMA disaster assistance and recovery programs, and proactive preparedness•Helped strengthen working relationships between City employees and cooperative agencies.
4/19 City Manager Report33. DEI High Impact Grants•Communicated with all previous grant awardees, applicants, and potential applicant organizations to identify the next best course of action•$300k grant cycle launching in late summer•Human Relations Commission (HRC) will play a significant role in grant recipient selection•Grant Workshop will be held in July to answer questions for potential applicants
4/19 City Manager Report44. Board of Supervisors Actions On HomelessnessBoard Actions:1. Direct staff to use the existing allocated funding and come back to the Board if they would like to reallocate funds.2. Direct staff to move forward with San Luis Obispo Countywide Strategic Plan to Address Homelessness; 3. Directed staff to evaluate development of a County Homeless Operations/Coordination Center.4. Approve the establishment of a Homeless Division within the Department of Social Services. 5. Direct staff to review options to create an independent citizens advisory council.
