I am a 21 year resident of this city and have been around long enough to see major change for so many good reasons. I also remember the days when it was a pleasure to put change in someone else’s meter just as an act of random kindness; Parking was affordable enough to enjoy lingering and taking pleasure & pride in the jewel box of our City. On this particular issue, I am not in favor. Please do not double the parking fee which may discourage residents and visitors alike from spending as much time as they would like to there. Have you considered asking the public to simply make a donation (of any denomination they feel compelled to give) towards this project to help offset doubling the fee? Everything is costing more...please don’t raise this fee that will create a barrier towards shopping small and supporting our local businesses. We all feel the pinch. I think this is a misstep that will deflate the pride we feel and incur resentment and frustration by the same people you are trying to serve. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Aileen P.
