Honorable Councilmembers:
I just took a long walk around the downtown core this morning and saw the number of large vacant store fronts . I think
that a decision to raise parking fees downtown at this juncture would only complicate an already struggling
downtown. The parking structure at Nipomo and Palm has been a plan for over 10 years at least as I recall the
presentation of the design.
Given the pandemic and the economic stress resulting, I think an increase in parking fees just might kill downtown
businesses. I hear from friends now that they rarely go downtown unless it's to see a movie. Let's do something to
increase interest in the downtown, not discourage people.
