Subject:SLO Parking Rate Increase
This message is from an External Source. Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond.
Hello,
Sending very strong opposition to the proposal to increase parking meter rates in downtown SLO.
A doubling of the rate is a pretty outrageous increase. No utility, or service (power, internet, netflix, etc) increases rates
by that much in a single year.
It is completely out of touch with the current living situations in this county - Lack of high-paying
jobs, skyrocketing rents, and totally unaffordable housing. This parking increase might seem like a small act, but it's just
another move towards SLO catering to the wealthy whitewash that is a plague on the creative, artistic, and unique
people/aspects in this area. Another move toward turning this magical unique town into a boring Santa Babara rip-off
Flat out it's going to affect the small business. As a resident of Morro Bay my favorite thing to do is hit my Saturday
morning yoga classes, get coffee, and visit the independent shops on Higuera. If parking for few hours is going to be
drastically increased, I am going to have to change up my routine and skip spending time and money at Higuera
businesses.
The unique small businesses will suffer, close, and who do you think is going to move in? More LuLu Lemons, Pottery
Barns, and other whitewash catering corporate chains that just future push SLO into a very sad place.
Thanks for your time,
Jacob Gorski
