I am writing to adamantly oppose the proposal to raise parking fees in Downtown San Luis Obispo.
At a time when we are all feeling an incredible financial squeeze, with no end in sight, at a time when the downtown
shops and restaurants are desperately trying to recover from lockdowns, and many did not, I feel it is the Wrong time to
increase the cost while trying to lure more people to our downtown. I know many people who are already not going to
town due to the increased homeless population, as they fear their safety, and their children’s safety. That is an issue
that seems more pressing at this time. And trying to fill the empty storefronts with businesses.
I have lived in SLO and loved our downtown for 35 years. Let us work on and improve what we already have. The rest
can and should wait for a more appropriate time.
