Hello,
I am a San Luis Obispo resident and I am outraged by the plan to raise parking fees downtown. The
recent changes making the parking fees active until 9 p.m. are already discouraging to people who want
to go downtown for dinner and a movie. You can't park at 6:45 and go to a 2 hour movie without having
to leave the movie and pay again. That's before even adding dinner to the mix... This is not only hurting
SLO citizens, but local business owners.
Now -- on top of that, to propose doubling parking fees and getting rid of the free hour in the garage - are
you kidding me?? Do you see all of the closed business downtown? Business owners and citizens have
suffered enough through COVID and high inflation, and now you're proposing to put more costs on us so
you can afford to build a new parking lot? You won't have need for a new parking lot if you go through
with these changes, because you will have MANY less people coming to downtown SLO.
Please, do not transfer these financial burdens onto us. For the sake of our community, reconsider this
proposal and find another way to pay for your parking structure.
Thank you,
Randi Barros
