Mayor and City Council Members:
After reading in The Tribune of the proposed doubling of parking fees in downtown San Luis Obispo, I
am dismayed. Please do NOT do this! I believe such a huge increase and the elimination of a free
first hour in the parking structures would negatively impact downtown businesses. I will be forced to
do my shopping and dining in other areas with more affordable parking.
There must be alternative ways to raise the massive amount of money you have designated for the
Cultural Arts Parking Structure. Perhaps the "cultural arts" organizations themselves can be asked to
contribute the lion's share of the proposed cost since they will be the direct beneficiaries of the new
structure.
Please reconsider this ill-advised plan.
