Dear Council,
The proposal for raising parking rates is outrageous. Is this new garage really necessary? Are we that desperate for more
parking? If so, can the project be put off until construction prices come down? And who pays for the "cultural center"? If
it's only meant to house SLO Rep then SLO Rep should pay for it! If the theater group needs a new home, what about
theaters at Cuesta College or Cal Poly? Seems there are plenty of spaces in the area that could be used. Or what about
turning one of the vacant commercial spaces in town into a theater? That'd be much cheaper than building a new
structure from scratch.
