Although I live in arroyo grande, I am in SLO at least 3 times per week and use
the parking garages and city streets. As a low income person, i would be greatly
affected by a doubling of parking fees and would possibly come to SLO less
often. I don't see the need for a new cultural parking structure unless there is
proof that the garages on palm street which are in the cultural district are at
capacity. Some of the events, such as SLO Repertory theatre and the Palm for
films, are mostly in the evening and I have never had any problem parking for
those events, nor for the museum during the day.
So unless the City Council has seen data that justify a need for a new garage to
be paid for with doubled parking fees, please vote NO on raising the fees when
you meet tonight.
