Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Honorable Lady Mayoress and Members of the City Council: It is encouraging to have confirmed the construction of new parking facilities in downtown SLO. However, it is discouraging to learn that the expense of this project will mean that residents and tourists will have the burden of a doubling of the current fee from two dollars to four dollars an hour. While it is argued that our City´s parking fees are lower than many cities, for a city of our size and the mixed permanent and student resident population, four dollars an hour is considerable. Given the further financial constraints of current gasoline prices and inflation, and the efforts of businesses to recover their lost income after the Covid lockdowns, it might be advisable to increase the hourly fee to three dollars an hour. This would still represent a source of income toward construction costs, which should after all be shouldered by developers as well. It is always advisable to introduce change gradually, and measure its impact. It would be a great pity if the parking fee raise would deter patronage of downtown businesses, and reduce the vibrancy of a lively downtown. Respectfully, Genevieve Czech, 612 Stanford Drive, SLO  1
