I love our downtown and often choose to go there above other places for meals and shopping. When I ask friends to meet me downtown m, parking is an issue for them and often I get outvoted to go somewhere that isn’t downtown where there’s better parking and it’s free. Especially since now patrons are charged past 6 o’clock into the evening and on Sundays all day. With businesses already struggling to make ends meet, I would think that the city Council would do everything possible to make it easy for people to come downtown and shop. I’m sure rates could be passed onto the consumers in other ways. The hassle and cost of parking is definitely one that a lot of people seem to talk about. I think you’re on the right track with the ongoing displays and decorations in the mission plaza and activities that happen there, as well as the parklets. Our downtown seems to be blossoming after Covid and I see that our town has even more personality than ever. This could be a big win for everyone if you find alternatives to negative aspects of parking. My favorite part of downtown is the small locally owned shops. It’s hard for them to make it and I would hate to see a lot of chain stores take over. Our town would lose its quaint feel even more than it already has since it’s grown in the last 30 years. Thank you for listening and thank you for all of you that you do. Denise Jenkins 1
