Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Rather than just saying there’s a proposal for increased rates, it would be helpful if you’re very transparent and clear about exactly what the rate increase will be. I suggest you post about that before you hold a vote. If it’s very minimal but will make a big impact in terms of being able to fund more parking, most people won’t be mad about it. If it’s substantial, it’s just going to keep locals out of the downtown areas. This is already a growing issue- locals can barely be seen hanging out downtown. It’s no longer a center of community, and this impacts how we feel about living here. My husband and I avoid downtown because it’s not interesting anymore and no longer a place friends want to hang out. It’s aggressively full of both tourists and homeless from out of town, and it’s not nice anymore. I grew up in SLO, and I remember the sweet years when we just knew if we went downtown, especially on a Thursday night, we’d run into friends and have a good time. That’s not been the case for years. We’re overall very unhappy living in SLO for many reasons, but this is definitely one of them. There isn’t any sense of community anymore. Jessica Ray -- Sent from my clumsy thumbs 1
