Item 5n Department: Human Resources Cost Center: 3001 For Agenda of: 6/21/2022 Placement: Consent Estimated Time: N/A FROM: Nickole Domini, Human Resources Director Prepared By: Brittani Roltgen, Human Resources Manager SUBJECT: JUNE 2022 SALARY SCHEDULE CORRECTION RECOMMENDATION Adopt a Regular and Contract Salary Schedule effective June 23, 2022, as required by the California Public Employee Retirement System. DISCUSSION Background The California Code of Regulations (CCR) Section 570.5, subsection (a) defines the requirements for a publicly available pay schedule that the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) uses to determine pay rates. The first requirement of CCR Section 570.5, subsections (a) is that the governing body adopts changes in the sa lary schedule in accordance with the requirements of public meeting laws. Salary schedules are regularly presented to City Council for adoption when changes to compensation are recommended, including Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) adoption, Unrepresented Employee Resolution adoption, or minimum wage adjustment adoption. Most recently, City Staff presented a salary schedule to City Council for adoption on April 19, 2022, as a part of the Unrepresented Management and Confidential Employee Resolution adoption. On May 26, 2022, a clerical error was discovered on the salary schedule adopted by City Council on April 19, 2022. The Legal Assistant I classification was listed as grade 245, when the correct grade is 240. The Legal Assistant II was listed as grade 266, when the correct grade is 245. Staff has corrected the clerical error and is requesting that City Council adopt the corrected salary schedule. Public Engagement Public comment on this item can be provided through written correspondence prior to the meeting and through public testimony at the meeting.
