It's Weed Abatement TimePer Section 8.08.020 of the Municipal Code and California Fire Code Section 304.1.2, property owners within the City of San Luis Obispo are reminded to clear all combustible weeds, dead pine trees and/or debris from their property byJUNE 1, 2022. Non-compliance may result in an issuance of a Citation.SLO Fire Department Prevention Staff are actively inspecting properties within the City for compliance. New ½ time Inspector will be doing City-wide follow-up inspections.We ask community members to clear properties to no more than 4" high weeds, remove dead bushes and dead trees or tree limbs.For more helpful information to prepare for wildfire please visit SLO FD website Fire Prevention / Wildfire Preparedness.For questions concerning these requirements, please contact Rodger Maggio, Fire Marshal, at 805-781-7386. July 4th Holiday FireworksIn accordance with SLO Municipal Code Chapter 12.23.030 Section M: All fireworks, including “Safe and Sane” are illegal to possess and unlawful to discharged in the City of San Luis Obispo.Fire Prevention and Law Enforcement will be enforcing Fireworks ordinances. Violations can lead to confiscation and/or citations with fines up to $1000.City PIO and SLO Fire Department Prevention staff have worked on a media communication plan to remind community members Fireworks are prohibited in San Luis Obispo.The City of SLO would like to wish all a safe Independence Day and encourage community members to attend one of the many public shows throughout our county put on by experts.
